Here is what I have learned since we have arrived:<\/p>\n\n\n\n
*Mainers are friendly. Don\u2019t let anyone tell you that Yankees aren\u2019t friendly\u2026yes, Massholes do exist\u2026but up here everyone is friendly.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
*Maine time is like being on island time\u2026everything is \u201cish\u201d in time\u20265ish, 2ish..even if your appointment is 2 o\u2019clock.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
*No one gets in a hurry\u2026no one. However, if they notice that you are behind them, they politely pull over so that you can go on your merry way!<\/p>\n\n\n\n
*Most Mainers use reusable shopping bags and they always return their shopping carts to the proper place\u2026no random cart in a parking spot.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
*If you are expecting snow and your car is parked outside, make sure to stick your windshield wipers out\u2026front and back\u2026so that you can easily remove the snow and if there\u2019s ice your wipers don\u2019t get stuck to your windshield.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
*You get cash back for your recycled bottles and cans\u2026thanks Clynk.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
*The sunrises and sunsets are out of this world beautiful. The cotton candy colored sky can\u2019t be beat.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
*A traffic jam is having to wait for more than 3 cars\u2026in the winter\u2026tourists season is a different story. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
*There are hidden gems everywhere, you just have to pay attention. Not literal gems, but hidden spots you might miss if you were rushing around.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
*Everyday you\u2019ll see wildlife\u2026it could be a deer family, a bunch of turkeys, a red fox, a gray squirrel or even a bunny\u2026in the harbor you could see seals playing, puffins looking for food, and Loons out for a swim\u2026you could even see an eagle family floating on the breeze, a crow or two and seagulls flying by.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
*Binoculars are a must.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
*Watching the tide come and go is not only interesting but very relaxing. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
*It is the absolute best place to write. There\u2019s peace here and that peace helps clear out the junk and you can focus on getting it all out on the page.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
*Snow plow guys don\u2019t get paid enough. Even when they show up at 4am!<\/p>\n\n\n\n
*Layers are a necessity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
*Watching the snow is one of the most calming things I have encountered here.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
*I love seeing my FIL a lot!<\/p>\n\n\n\n
*Watching my husband and my FIL together makes my heart smile.
*Schools have a mid-winter break the third week of February. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
*You can be as involved as you want to be.
<\/p>\n\n\n\n
We\u2019ve only been here 11 weeks. I am sure I will continue to learn more about life here and I will of course update the list!<\/p>\n\n\n\n
