My Mom was all about kindness and helping where she could. My Daddy was all about trust, but verify. Apparently I am more Phyllis than Mike. I\u2019m learning I can be kind, but I also must verify.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Kindnesses taken advantage of to date\u2026that I\u2019m aware of:<\/p>\n\n\n\n
*Bags and bags of artificial flowers and greenery promised to be used at the cemetery with the change of the season. Maybe used once late last November or December.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
*A Ford Escape\u2026the title was never changed\u2026and it has been subsequently totaled. Unfortunately for her\/them because she didn\u2019t have a title with her name on it she couldn\u2019t get any of her belongings out of the car. She called me for help\u2026nothing I could do\u2026she had all the paperwork.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
*Bags and bags of clothes\u2026who knows if they were worn or sold. I do know she wore the puffer hooded coat I gave her.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
*A sewing machine to be used to help make pillowcases for Children\u2019s Hospital\u2026again\u2026who knows\u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n
*Tools and huge wheeled toolboxes\u2026I only said take a few that you can use in your work\u2026they took all<\/p>\n\n\n\n
*A washer\u2026that was to have been paid for prior to picking it up\u2026hmmm, still waiting on payment and the washer is MIA. The dryer she badgered me about needing is still there!<\/p>\n\n\n\n
*A drop leaf antique table\u2026why? Because they could.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
*An outdoor rocking chair\u2026from inside the sunroom\u2026again, because they could.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
*A portable rotisserie oven\u2026say it with me\u2026because they could.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
*An antique trunk\u2026yep, because they could.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
*Crafting supplies\u2026from inside the house\u2026they used a ladder to climb in a window\u2026I could still smell her stink in that room.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
*Not one but 2 sets of sterling flatware\u2026because they could.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
*Some Sterling serving pieces\u2026those were left in a bucket in the sunroom to be gotten at a later date. Sorry, my cousin, Kel has possession of them now. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
*Bottles of water\u2026but only the smaller bottles\u2026they left the gallon jugs\u2026why?<\/p>\n\n\n\n
*A table saw from the barn\u2026every time we were there or my cousin was there..the barn would be unlocked\u2026after having been locked the previous trip. Hmmmm\u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n
I am sure there are a lot of other things that they helped themselves to\u2026but at this point\u2026it really doesn\u2019t matter or make them any less thieves. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
I think what hurts me the most is they broke my trust during an incredibly difficult time in my life. I\/we trusted, but didn\u2019t verify that they were actually mowing every two weeks as agreed upon\u2026and the exact time period she would say she had just mowed at Mom\u2019s and request payment\u2026which was immediately sent. Thanks to my cousin going to check on the house we found out she hadn\u2019t been mowing for months\u2026and had made entry into the house illegally\u2026yes, the sheriff came out, took fingerprints\u2026unfortunately they weren\u2019t good enough to identify they perpetrator. But, because of her very distinct body odor, I KNOW beyond a shadow of a doubt that it was her.
<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In the last couple of weeks, I have had to make peace with the fact that I\/we were taken advantage of by someone my Mom and I had trusted. Thankfully she did not take any of the few remaining things I wanted to pick up. All that she took were just things\u2026I truly hope one day she\/they will realize what they have done is wrong as get their lives together\u2026I\u2019m not holding my breath\u2026I\u2019m just going to wish them well and move forward\u2026and thank them for a lesson learned\u2026be kind, trust, BUT VERIFY!<\/p>\n\n\n\n
