QUARANTINE MAGIC

April 4, 2020

Singing kids
Dreaming up their dreams
The world stops
As they admin their real lives

Streets once quiet
A sound emerges, awakens
The joy of innocence
Their minds, out in the open

Not on a tablet
Drawings on the concrete
Not on a phone
Living in their bodies

Together again
Scraping at loneliness
The crisis, the dread
The soda revives the innocence

  1. This poem makes me think of some of the positives of this pandemic experience that we are all trying to navigate. It seems like there is so much focus on the negative things, but so many good things have happened when the world basically stopped everyone’s too busy lives and they started getting back to the basics of being outside, taking time to enjoy their families, and paying more attention to what’s really meaningful in life.

  2. “The world stops as they admin their real lives” I just love that line! I think this pandemic is helping us to course correct as a culture. I hope we remember these things…
