THE GOLDEN AGE

Oh, Boston.
What an old soul you are…
Inside and out.
Through and through
Trinkets of presently unknown history are hidden inside your gilded, jeweled boxes

The golden age once was
But you’re always in the golden days somehow
It is ever present within your tapestry

You lived the good life then
You live the good, maybe better, life now
I miss your whipping harbor winds blanketing my Calvin Klein tunic length puffer coat
Its fur-trimmed hood nestled against my face
Providing the forever noticeable wings of change
for you are the epitome of change.

  1. I love it! How about a couple of your Boston photos to go with this? I look forward to the day we can go back.

  2. I’ve only been to Boston through books and movies and TV shows. I’ve never felt its soul. Today, I felt it through you. You are like the electrical cord, you plugged in to Boston and it lit me. We’ve talked about Boston, I never really could figure out why you were drawn to it. Today I felt it. Today it’s on my list of places to go. When y’all go back, maybe I’ll crash you for a day or two. I’d love the “Dawn Tour”!! LYS

  3. This is just glowing, gloriously glowing. I love the flow that you create with your well chosen words, and I love your particular choice of adjectives that help me see the light that the city holds. I have never been to Boston, but have had a couple of fascinating dreams about the city, and her secrets. Your poem reminds me of the mysteries, the hopes, and adventures of life. Thank you!!
