Brush Strokes by Lana H.

I am a budding artist and here are some of my early paintings. I started painting in February of this year, and it has really helped me to relax and given me something new to focus on during the pandemic and isolation. If you like what you see, they are for sale, but I am just trying to get up the nerve to show them publicly right now. I still have a lot to learn but I am enjoying the process. Your feedback is greatly appreciated. I know art is a matter of taste and we all have different taste buds. I’m still trying to figure out my style and all that stuff. I am pretty hard on myself. As they say, I am my biggest critic. But I will gladly accept any constructive criticism. And if you do happen to be interested in purchasing one, leave me a comment with an email address below. 🙂

  1. Hey hey my wild one!!! Lana I only have one constructive criticism and that is to tell that “biggest critic” in your mind to hush…your work is beautiful and I love the expressiveness!! You are a gift and a blessing…so glad you’re my friend. LYS

  2. Lana, you have only been painting since February? These are delightful! My favorites are the sun and the sunflowers. You have inspired me. I bought an easel recently and have yet to use it. The only advice I have for you is to keep putting your work out there. Good for you for taking the step to post it here.

    1. Cindye, thank you! Yes, I think my first painting was in February of a winter chapel scene. I have always wanted to try it, but fear held me back. Now I still have some fear, but I venture out anyway and I have learned so much. It doesn’t always look like it does in my head, but I continue to learn and I am loving it. It is such good therapy, and I encourage you to just do it. I think you will be great and glad you did.

  3. Yep. This. This was part of my thought process for getting this site going. I never knew you had this amazing talent in you until you started posting these. I want the world to see them, to own them, to feel even for a moment the way I do when I see them. I knew you wrote well. The poetry you already posted blew me away too. It’s all YOU. Amazing you. Thanks for making my life better. LYS

    1. You are the amazing one, dear friend. Thank you for allowing me to be a part of your life. It’s art that brought us together and it’s love that keeps us together.

  4. Wow, since February?! How astounding!
I love your particular use of color, and how you SEE the way it should be used for what you want to show/say.
Mr Rooster, Funky Flamingo, Texas Sun, Summer Sunflowers, Bumblebee Bike, and Pretty Peacock, are my favorites because of the whimsy with which you paint, and your choices of colors. You seem to have found a very particular style, and it speaks volumes.
You are certainly inspiring…to walk out on that ledge and fly with different wings!

  5. I’m so flattered by your words, April. That means so much to a fledging artist like me. I’m still figuring it all out but it sure is fun. I hope by this time next year, I will be more proficient and knowledgeable. It’s fun to learn something you’ve always wanted to do. I wasn’t sure I was ready to put it out in front of the world, but you have to fly at some point. And Dana made me do it. 😊

    1. Mikey, thank you so much. You have been so supportive of me since I started this journey and I appreciate it so much I hope you read some of the stuff on this site. It’s pretty new but there’s some really great stuff on here already I’m proud to be a part of it.

  6. Lana, I think your budding artist is in bloom!! These are fantastic! Every one of them made me smile!!

    1. CindiLou, thank you so much. That makes ME smile! It helps to make me keep those brushes busy knowing someone is enjoying them. 😊
